Type 201 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese stainless steel, which is developed to save nickel. Type 201 is a low-cost alternative to traditional Cr-Ni stainless steels such as 301 and 304. The nickel is replaced by added manganese and nitrogen. It cannot be hardened by heat treatment, but can reach high tensile strength by cold working. Type 201 is essentially non-magnetic in the annealed condition and becomes magnetic upon cold working. In many applications, the 201 type may replace the 301 type.
DIN 17100 ST37/ST52 carbon steel plate
DIN 17100 is the German standard for hot-rolled structural steel.
JIS G3101 SS400/SS490/SS540 carbon steel plate
JIS G3101 is the Japanese standard for hot-rolled general-purpose structural steel. SS400/SS490/SS540 are the most commonly used structural steel grades in Japan, corresponding to minimum tensile strengths of 400MPa, 490MPa, and 540MPa respectively.
High-manganese, low-nickel austenitic stainless steel contains approximately 17-19% chromium and 4-6% nickel.
Metastable austenitic stainless steel contains approximately 16-18% chromium and 6-8% nickel.
Type 18-8 austenitic stainless steel contains approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
Free-machining austenitic stainless steel, with added elements such as sulfur and selenium to improve its machinability, contains approximately 18% chromium and 9% nickel, making it suitable for high-speed automatic machine tool processing.
The most common type, 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, contains approximately 18-20% chromium and 8-10.5% nickel.
Ultra-low carbon 304 stainless steel, with a carbon content of ≤0.03%, has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion.
High-nickel austenitic stainless steel has a nickel content of approximately 10-13%, low work hardening rate, and excellent cold forming performance, making it suitable for deep drawing and complex cold working.
High-chromium-nickel heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel contains approximately 22-24% chromium and 12-15% nickel.
Ultra-low carbon high chromium nickel heat-resistant austenitic stainless steel, containing about 25% chromium and about 20% nickel, has excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance and can be used continuously below 1200℃.
